Milkweed is a very important food source for monarch butterflies. It gives many different types of milkweed, though the main color for milkweed is pink.
Growing: Milkweed needs to be grown in full sun and most need to be grown in well-draining soil. I have successful grown milkweed in my garden and it is clay soil! If you have an area that is wetter swamp milkweed is the variety you will want to plant. Milkweed will put out big brown seed pods, if you don't want milkweed taking over your garden it is vital to remove the seed pods and throw them in the garbage.
