Did you know it gives many different varieties of sage? It is a member of the mint family and is native to the Mediterranean region.

Growing: Sage is quite easy to start from seed and to grow as a plant. It needs to grown in full sun and needs to be planted in well-draining soil. I have grown sage in my garden (my soil is clay!) and it has done well. Garden sage is a perennial in zone 4 so it may or may not come back year after year if grown in southeast Manitoba. Sage is a perfect herb to grow in pots, the flowers and leaves are beautiful.
Uses: Sage is most commonly used as a flavoring in stuffing. It can also be used in flower bouquets and as accent plant for flower container/pots. It can also be used to flavor soups and meat dishes.
